Privacy policy
Dripout plays tones that help push water out of your phone's speaker, and offers an earpiece clean, a stereo speaker test, a microphone check and a custom tone. This policy explains what stays on your phone and what is shared.
What stays on your phone
Your settings (vibration on or off, your last custom tone) and a few counters (whether a cleaning has finished, how many times you said a cleaning helped, whether we have asked for a review, and whether the extras are unlocked today) are kept in the app's private storage on your phone. They are never uploaded and are removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Sound is made on your phone
Every tone is created on your phone. Nothing is downloaded or sent to make it.
Microphone (Mic check only)
Mic check shows how loud the sound reaching your microphone is. It asks for the microphone permission only when you open Mic check and tap Allow microphone. While the meter runs, Dripout measures the loudness of the sound on your phone and immediately throws the sound away: nothing is recorded, saved or sent anywhere. The meter stops when you leave the screen or the app. Everything else in Dripout works without this permission.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Dripout is free and shows ads using Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). The ads SDK only starts after your first cleaning has run to the end, or when you choose to watch a video for an optional extra. To show, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect and process:
- your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers,
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it,
- device and app information (for example device model, OS version, app version),
- ad interactions (for example which ads were shown or tapped), and crash or diagnostic data from the ads SDK.
This data is collected by Google, not by NK Tools, and is handled under Google's Privacy Policy. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), Dripout asks for your consent through Google's consent message, and you can change your choice at any time from Settings › Ad privacy choices in the app. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.
What we don't do
- No account or sign-in.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs besides the ads described above.
- We don't sell your data, and we never receive any sound from your phone.
Permissions
- Microphone: only for Mic check, as described above. Asked when you use it.
- Vibration: to vibrate in time with the pulses (can be turned off in Settings).
- Change audio settings: to play the earpiece clean through the earpiece; the phone's audio mode is set back when it ends.
- Internet and network state: used only to load ads.
- Advertising ID: used by the ads SDK as described above.
Children
Dripout is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
